Acum că am aflat despre cea mai tare cutie găsită și cel mai frumos loc descoperit, a venit timpul dezvăluirii primei experiențe de geocaching.

Și astfel povestea Tuesday the 14th (GC6V0N7) continuă. Uite ce a zis poporul:

Kekemes: “My first geocaching experience (DNF but does it really matter?) takes us back in time quite a bit. It was the beginning of 2011 and I was so happy to try out the new treasure hunting game Lokibra mentioned. One special night in February I quickly checked the GC map and discovered a nice micro ~100m away from my home: San Francisco de Quito. I will never forget that night, searchind for “anything” that might have been a cache, not knowing what to expect. I was Sherlock Holmes and Black Beard Pirate at the same time while the blue forces from the embassies nearby were so hard to manage, my most enjoyed DNF 🙂

And here’s my first log entry:

Didn’t find it 02/21/2011
As I live nearby I’ve tried my luck for my first real-life ‘treasure hunt’ (tonight at 23:15). This could have been my first cache, unfortunately it is either missing (found an opened Kinder Surprise case at the ‘crime scene’) or the two guardians (as there are many Embassies around) were too interested in my nocturnal activities making me give up too early. Will try it again one of these days.”

 

DanAL70: “Undeva pe la sfârșitul lui 2002 mi-a încolțit ideea de a cumpăra un gps, unul pentru drumeții nu pentru mașină.
Zis și făcut, prin martie 2003 am devenit posesorul unui Garmin eTrex Legend.

Întors acasă am început să caut hărți pentru gps. România era însă o pată albă, doar pe mapquest mai găseai o legătură între coordonate și lumea reală.
Am început să caut seturi de coordonate ca să completez basemap-ul gpsului, o hartă extrem de rudimentară și cu date suficient de aproximative încât să fie practic complet greșite.

Pe 29 aprilie 2003 îmi înscriam contul la www.geocaching.com.
În Romania existau 5 geocache-uri:
Stirbei Palace
Royal Sheep Pasture
Dracula’s Castle
Száldobos
First Galati

Am avut nevoie de două luni de zile să mă decid să o caut pe cea mai apropiată, deși pe vremea aia lucram în Otopeni și până la Buftea nu ar fi însemnat un ocol prea mare.
În ziua debutului am străbătut Buftea în lung și în lat pentru că nu aveam habar pe unde se intră la Palatul Știrbei.
Într-un târziu am găsit intrarea păzită de jandarmi. Îmi zic: hait că nu e permis accesul, poate tre să sar gardu!
Mă apropii și îi întreb dacă au habar de Palatul Știrbei. Păi aici e, zic ei. Și se poate vizita? întreb eu. Sigur, dar numai curtea și parcul că înăuntru se pregătește nu știu ce eveniment.
Zic merci și intru pe domeniul Știrbei. Parchez mașina în dreptul palatului și îmi iau fata și nevasta la plimbare prin parc. GPS-ul m-a dus către GZ și am observat capela dincolo de lac iar pe malul lacului, la nici 10 m de GZ un jandarm cu undița în mână.
Mi-a luat o vreme să mă învârt pe lângă GZ până să decid cam pe la care copac trebuie să caut (Legendul în pădure oscila mult din cauza semnalului slab). Jandarmul nu părea să mă bage în seamă deși îmi era destul de clar că l-am enervat cu prezența mea în apropiere, că probabil i-am speriat peștele. La cât e lacul de mare cred că un singur pește are!

În cele din urmă am găsit cutia si foarte fericit am semnat logbook-ul și am decis că în următoarea deplasare în afara țării voi pleca înarmat cu date.

Primul concediu l-am petrecut la Bran cu gândul să urc la castel. Am studiat posibilitățile de acces dinspre Valea Porții însă nu am găsit o cale liberă de acces. Am abandonat pentru moment și am pornit într-o incursiune către Szaldobos. A doua zi am decis să caut un acces dinspre Moeciu și de undeva din zona vămii medievale am urcat direct prin pădure (cred că cea mai proastă abordare posibilă) către Dracula’s Castle.”

 

Rotrav: “Așadar, aventura mea în lumea GPS-urilor a început prin vremuri imemoriale, când am pus mâna prima dată pe un model antic de Magellan (il mai am și acum, cred). Am evoluat apoi la o bijuterie a tehnicii din acei ani (Garmin GPS V, pe care îl mai am și acum, SIGUR ) și, după o perioadă în care am sprijinit de asemenea proiectul România Digitală, am descoperit geocaching.com unde mi-am făcut cont in 4 iulie 2003. Numele inițial este irelevant, l-am redenumit astăzi în rotrav0.

La momentul respectiv de timp, nu m-a pasionat foarte tare jocul (probabil din motivele expuse mai devreme de DanAL70) așa că, fast forward, 10 ani mai târziu, în martie 2013, aflându-mă în Câmpina și plictisindu-mă groaznic, mi-am reamintit de chestia asta. Așa că mi-am zis, WTF?! și, uitând deja că aveam cont, am creat un altul și am plecat în căutarea primei mele cutii împreună cu TheAlexAVN.”

 

Biciclaru: “Totul a început pe 31 octombrie 2010 când împreună cu mai mulți prieteni, printre care și geocacherii “florin83” si “xemax” am plecat spre Brașov ca să dăm o tură cu bicicletele în zonă. Pe drum, cei doi geocacheri au zis că trebuie să oprim neapărat “la un cache” (GC2BEPH). Bineînțeles că au trebuit să explice celor din mașină care e treaba cu geocachingul. Deși nu ne-a atras pe niciunul ideea, am zis să oprim totuși să vedem cu ochii noștri cum arată un cache. Am oprit și (întâmplător sau nu) eu am fost cel care a găsit cutia. Nici măcar după treaba asta nu m-a atras jocul. Am ajuns la Brașov și am băgat o tură foarte frumoasă în zonă. Singurul lucru care m-a cam enervat a fost că cei doi se tot opreau din loc în loc să caute cutii, așa că la finalul turei aveam o părere foarte proastă despre jocul lor stupid.

A doua zi mi-am amintit de joc și am intrat pe site. Parcă a început să ma tenteze, așa că mi-am făcut cont. Apoi am logat și cutia găsită în ziua anterioară, că aveam poza doveditoare și în plus chiar eu o găsisem. Cam vreo 4 săptămâni am căutat cutiuțe fără GPS, că nu aveam. Și acum îmi amintesc de euforia aia de la început, fiecare cutie era ceva wow pentru mine, mai ales că aveam ceva de muncă până reușeam să o găsesc, fără GPS și fără smartphone era cam greu. Frumoase vremuri… Cam asta ar fi pe scurt povestea mea”

 

Aky9: “Era o zi însorită de mai în care nu aveam plănuită nicio activitate specială însă un telefon a schimbat tot!
Cosmin (aka civcosmin) – Bună, ce faceți?
Victor (aka Victorskate) – Bună, uite suntem pe la Sala Palatului și verificam cu Lavinia (aka LCutie) o cutie.
Cosmin – Ce cutie?
Victor – Pai e un joc cu gps, trebuie să-ți faci cont și cauți comori! Voi ce faceți?
Cosmin – Si noi suntem la Sala Palatului, mâncăm o Gozleme, hai să ne vedem să ne spui și nouă ce-i cu cutiile alea.
Și uite asa a început Victor să ne povestească despre joculețul de care el aflase cu câțiva ani in urmă dar pe care nu-l băgase în seamă până atunci.
Pe mine nu m-a entuziasmat foarte tare dar am zis ok, hai să căutăm o cutie să vedem despre ce e vorba.
Cea mai apropiată era Biserica Lutherană (GC5RDBH). Ne-am tot învârtit pe acolo preț de câteva zeci de minute dar evident că nu am găsit nimic, nu înțelegeam nici hint-ul, nu știam nici ce e cu D/T asa că am lăsat-o moartă.
Am pornit către Ateneul Român (GC4R4ER). Evident că nici aici nu am înțeles hint-ul și după ce ne-am cățărat prin copaci și am căutat prin gunoaie am lăsat-o moartă și pe asta.
Următoare oprire: Piața Cosmonauților (GC4REEK). De unde era să știm noi că misterele nu sunt acolo unde ne duc coordonatele?! Am întors și aici squarul cu susu-n jos fără niciun rezultat.
Începeam deja să-mi pierd răbdarea însă am hotărât că mergem până-n Herăstrău că “acolo sunt mai multe și tre’ să găsim ceva”…
Am Încercat prima dată să găsim Maitreyi (GC2TQGQ), era foarte clar ce aveam de făcut dar am stabilit că lipsește cutia și am mers mai departe…
Deja nu mai aveam deloc răbdare și începeam să mă satur de cutiile lor stupide…
Următoarea cutie a fost Le petit Arc de Triomphe du Bucarest (GC1EPMV), primul nostru “Found it”.
Eram entuziasmata ca dupa atâtea încercări eșuate am reușit și noi să găsim ceva, dar parcă nu era ce trebuie ca să mă conving că merită să-mi fac cont. Am improvizat rapid un username just in case și am pornit către Utility#1 (GC51ARD).
Cutia asta avea tot ce trebuie să mă convingă să-mi fac cont. Am fost super entuziasmată că am contribuit decisiv la găsirea ei și în plus “cum să o găsim pe asta care e atâta de grea când nu am fost în stare să le găsim pe celelalte?” (categoric a fost și norocul începătorului la mijloc).
Acela a fost momentul în care am îndrăgit geocaching și l-am trecut în lista mea de hobby-uri 🙂

I googled Geocaching and discovered the Bucharest map was full of boxes, including one in the park near our building… and there it all started, with one successful experience! 🙂 still one of my favorite boxes.

Prima noastră experiență de geocaching: am o foarte veche prietenă care locuiește cu familia în Canada, și, amândouă mămici, ne trimitem cu fiecare prilej poze cu lucrurile interesante pe care le facem cu fetițele. Prin mai 2015 văd la ea o poză făcută la munte, deschizând “un geocache”. Google și eu într-o doară și văd pagina cu harta. Curioasă, zoom pe București și văd că, hopa, e și la noi jocul ăsta, ba chiar văd marcată o cutie în parcul Regina Maria, practic lângă blocul nostru.

Cred ca m-a prins ideea rău de tot din clipa în care am văzut harta 🙂 dar mai trebuia trecut testul practic. Cu Eva atunci de 6 ani, nu aveam prea mari șanse să alerg dupa comori dacă nu era ceva ce putem face împreună, așa ca am început cu parcul în care mergem de obicei la joacă. În seara aceea am citit cu atenție tot ce am găsit pe site ca să înțeleg cum funcționează, și … am scos la imprimantă pagina cache-ului ca să o studiem împreună mai bine 🙂 I-am arătat și lui Sorin care a fost și el curios să încercăm, dar ne-a lăsat pe noi două să testăm primele. Eva a primit ideea cu toată seriozitatea și a doua zi am mers amândouă în căutarea comorii…

Letterbox-ul din Regina Maria este chiar special, și rămâne una din cutiile mele favorite. Începe în parc, cu o căutare de indicii care te trimit la o adresă pe una din străzile învecinate, cutia este la îndemână dar nu chiar evidentă – mai ales când este prima căutare.. așa că pentru noi, începătoare, a fost o adevărată aventură să ajungem la ea și să o deschidem, cred că a durat o oră. Când am avut în sfârșit cutia în mâini, nu am fost dezamăgite de conținut, era foarte bogat, încă avea și ștampila care între timp s-a pierdut, și un trackable… am stat pe niște trepte și am studiat fiecare mic obiect, venisem deja pregatită cu jucărele de schimb…

Dupa experiența reușită, geocaching-ul a fost pe loc adoptat, și s-a născut echipa Vinatorii :)”

 

NYWanderer: “My first caching experience wasn’t that exciting. My friend who discovered Geocaching recently, was certain that I’d be into it, so when he visited NY, we went and found a couple together. First one happened to be a magnetic keybox (I think) attached to a subway exit fence… Second one I think may have been a nano – pretty typical for NYC.

But my real conversion happened a few weeks later when I went on a trip to Iceland. Straight from the airport I went to Blue Lagoon and searched for the cache that was hidden there… Wasted 30 minutes and gave up. Since I was with a muggle friend I didn’t even try finding others during our roadtrip around the entire island. But as we finished the roadtrip and my friend was flying back, I was left with a couple of days with nothing much to do until the 2nd part of the trip was going to begin (a friend’s wedding). So I looked for the cache right by the airport where I returned the rental car and found it! And then found another in Reyjkjavik and even saw other cachers looking for it just before me! And then I saw this cache had lots of favorite points so decided to go for it. Took a bus for about 1hr, hiked a little bit and got to this lighthouse whose access way is available only at low tide, made my way across, searched for quite a long while, narrowly avoided being attacked by seagulls, and getting worried that I may have to leave as the tide was rising, but eventually made the find! From that point on, I was hooked. My local friend was impressed that I found that place which is not at all a common tourist destination, though it is a locals favorite spot and I realized that’s indeed what geocaching was going to be about for me: not finding tupperware in the woods, but getting to beautiful spots I wouldn’t otherwise discover. Sadly, I only learned to write better logs a bit later, so all my early finds are accompanied by atrociously boring single-sentence logs… At least this note makes up a little bit for that when it comes to this cache 🙂 “

 

Mioritics: “Phfiuu… prima cutie… ce mult a trecut de atunci! Era în 2005, eram cu al meu prieten pax în Veneția. Eram norocoșii invitați ai Institului Cultural Roman. Aduceam cu noi o expoziție de fotografii despre bisericile săsești din zona Sibiu-Sighișoara… și o groază de povești care să le acompanieze.

Normal ca am explorat și orașul. La un moment dat observ că al meu pax deschide un device nou, îmi face semn să vin dupa el și… urmam deja o busolă spre o destinație necunoscută. Zice el că nu-mi explică acum, că o să înțeleg mai bine când ajungem la fața locului.

La un moment dat îmi zice brusc: “Am ajuns! Aici căutăm comoara” (cutia era GCJM15). Îmi explică repede că trebuie să căutăm o cutie ceva mai mare decât palma… în zonă. Îmi era un pic jenă când îl vedeam căutând în boscheți, însă marele noroc a fost că burnița, era friguț și nimeni în zonă. Așa că mi-am zis că ‘de ce nu’… și am început să caut și eu… necunoscutul.

După mai bine de 15 minute îl văd că are o cutie în mână și… era cu un zâmbet cât casa! Mi-a zis că asta e ‘comoara’ și că trebuie să ne semnăm pe hârtie să știe planeta că am găsit nebunia. Mie îmi sticleau ochii la jucărioarele dinăuntru, însă nu m-a lăsat să iau nimic….cică nu aveam nimic de pus la schimb.

Mi-a plăcut! Așa că am mai mers cu el la vreo alte 4-5 locații… am mai găsit doar o încă o cutie… însă microbul il aveam deja în sânge! Am mai căutat ceva cutii împreună cu pax… apoi el a plecat în țările calde și așa am rămas eu cu Mioritics.”

 

CehashuTeam: “Prima cutie pt noi a fost plumbuita. Partea feminină a echipei era circumspectă în a merge pe un camp și a căuta printre ceva oase [de câine sper] ceva… pe lângă asta era imediat după o ploaie și erau miliarde de melci pe care nu trebuia să călcăm. Noroc că imediat după am mers în concediu și am avut ceva experiențe mai plăcute 🙂 “

MosIon: [First Geocaching experience] – late entry

Different than majority, I discovered Geocaching by luck, browsing the Net. I was looking for an easy encryption way, to use it in the Game I was prepared frequently to my daughter. She was aprox 5 years old when she asked me to hide ‘thinks’ around for her to find. Including her Birthday presents. All gifts were given not hand-to-hand, but through a note leading to the “treasure”. This Game was called simple: “Harta” (“Map” in English). In time this Game start developing, becoming more complex. Notes leading to notes more difficult to find. The Game was pretty famous among my daughter colleagues – I ended up to be The Clown reliever (sad, but true: children grow). Everybody was exceited to play “Harta”.

When my daughter was 10, I run out of new hiding idea. Notes written with invisible ink (lemon juice actually), Caesar Cipher and reverse written were already boring stuff. So I start searching into the Net for fresh ideas. “Harta” was a Treasure Hunting, at different level. Then I discovered Geocaching. A Mistery somewhere in USA that was encoded easy, but difficult to break. Quite fun. I checked for Caches on the Map and I was surprised to see that there are 5 caches hidden in my place (Constanta). I felt like the first man stepping on the Moon.

When I return back to Romania, first think was to go for a Geocaching Hunt. In Bucharest, directly, no time to waste till reach to Constanta. Together with my brother, bicicling through muddy forest, it was so fun. My first discovery: Cernica Forest – Padurea Cernica. And my first Log, reporting that I found “the item”: https://coord.info/GLAZ30G1. Not even knowing how to attach a picture to the Log …

Not long after I met Geocaching, I understood that actually was not my daughter, but it was ME. I was more excited to prepare the battlefield for my daughter than she was interested to discover hidden treasures. Her excitement faded away, while mine grown. Ballanced in one way …

What else to say? I Love Geocaching. And … Greetings from Romania :-))))

În următorul capitol aflăm despre ce tipuri de geocache-uri preferă lumea.

După ce în Capitolul 1 aflam despre geocache-ul preferat, în următoarea filă a poveștii noastre (GC6V0N7), kekemes ne-a invitat să descriem cel mai frumos loc descoperit în timp ce făceam geocaching. Uite ce răspunsuri a primit:

Kekemes:”I find this new question a bit more difficult than the first one. But let me see, I’ve cached in 14 countries… hard to pick up just one, but the most beautiful place I’ve seen while searching for a cache has to be the Fig Tree Bay Island, and maybe this is because it was so warm and nice in there, while we struggle with -8 degrees Celsius and brownish frozen snow… GC5A64X. We had to swim a bit to get to the cache and while on the island we searched for a while as we left the phone/GPS at the beach. There are many many more beautiful places I’ve seen and may have never seen if there wasn’t for geocaching, but with this temperature outside and the currend mood GC5A64X has the most beautiful location.”

 

Vinatorii: “There are several great places we discovered while geocaching, but one example stands out, because we really would not have found out about the place if not for the cache. It was on Evia island in Greece, and all tourist information on the net is about the shore line, but the island also has some impressive mountains. Only there was no info anywhere on the mountain trails, and we would not have wondered with 7 year old Eva without having any idea about the state of the trails or the time involved… But this geocache in Agali Gorges had all the information we needed in the description and finders logs. It also was a rather old cache from 2010, with just a few visitors… So we went with the car as far as we managed, a totally deserted spot, we parked by a very old olive tree and went on walking. It was September, beautiful weather, no human soul in sight all day, just the smell of greek mountain flowers and pines. We wandered through the gorges for about an hour, quite an easy track, and got to a storybook kind of place – with a clear stream running on white stones, and a small stone table and fountain and the cache was hidden besides an incredible looking gigantic old tree. As we sat there snacking and playing beside the stream, a herd of wild mountain goats appeared and passed at a very close distance, on some invisible paths on the very abrupt rock walls, filling the valley with funny, very, very strong goat smell that remained in the air for some time after the goats had left. It was a beautifull unforgettable day, just because of the cache.”

 

Biciclaru: “Hmm… Another good question! As for the previous one, is very hard to pick my answer. Geocaching led me to many amazing places, so choosing “the most beautiful place” is not an easy task. Anyway, I think that my answer should be GC282A from Petra, Jordan. This cache leads you to a forgotten fortress from Petra area, but the idea is that this fortress is 100% outside the touristic paths. In fact it is pretty complicated to find your way to that peak. The view from GZ rewards all the effort, from there you have a breathtaking view to the entire valley, so you could see most of the amazing places from Petra. Also, there is a special feeling when you realize that you can explore on your own that small forgotten fortress. Simply amazing! Without geocaching we would have never seen that fortress or that amazing view over the entire valley! “

 

DanAL70: “Oh, oh, oh! Mister NoLongerHangman! You returned with some very hard questions.Mostly 90% of the places where geocaching has brought me up were delightful. Beautiful places. Bihoru, Postavaru or Papusa (Dengheru) peak?

NYWanderer: “Ahh… again a tough one to narrow down. So I’ll mention 3: An abandoned trail in the middle of Singapore Lost; a man-made rock terrace in an off-trail spot in the mountains in Utah. Amazingly the guy who created this terrace spotted the geocache that was placed there and created his own gc account to tell the story of this great spot: A Terrace with a View; lastly, a cache in Vietnam that took me to an arena where tigers used to fight elephants for entertainment and a nearby elephant temple and cemetery Ho Quyen Arena Ecocache. Amazingly, even my easy-rider motorbike driver who has been living and driving tourists around in the area for years, had never been to this spot (though he had heard of it) before I guided him to take me there. That’s what makes geocaching cool for me! “

 

Civcosmin: “GC2C521 Pentru priveliștea oferită atât asupra Brașovului, cât și a întregii Țări a Bârsei 🙂 “

 

Lukas’: “What are you doing here? You are putting us in difficulty, once again! There are so many beautiful places, it’s so hard to choose only one! The beauty of this game is that you can see a lot of not so known beautiful places; thanks Geocaching!

Although the majority of my cache finds are in Romania (1441 from the total of 1654), and our beauties are top notch, I will choose this one: Mount Triglav 2864. This is the highest point in Slovenia, where I had a great adventure and a spectacular view from the top.”

 

MosIon: “I visited many beautiful places while Caching, but one place stands ahead of the others: Kuramathi Island, a piece of Heaven in Maldives (Kuramathi One).”

 

Aky9: “Am văzut multe locuri frumoase pe care le-am descoperit în timpul relativ scurt de când am descoperit geocaching-ul dar pentru că ador apusurile am ales GCKT0Q (Jetski). A fost primul webcam cache pe care l-am logat dupa vreo 2 ore de căutări și 3 trasee greșite. Până am găsit camera a și apus soarele 🙂 Un peisaj cu adevarat superb :)”

 

Rotrav: “Hard to pick just one, but I think that Fonias can be some sort of answer …”

 

Issa Syssa: “Într-adevăr, greu de ales un cache preferat, dar dintre toate cache-urile căutate de noi, am ales două care ne-au dus la un loc minunat. GC12MGR și GC292JE! Pentru a putea vizita împrejurimile, am rămas campați acolo două zile (și nu am apucat să vizitam tot) dacă în timpul zilei locul ne-a oferit vederi asupra stâncilor, cascadelor și a lacului, noaptea a venit ca cireașa de pe tort oferindu-ne o priveliște cu calea lactee. Nici mocănița Oravița – Anina nu s-a lăsat mai prejos scoțând parcă din Photoshop uimitoare peisaje.”

 

Hard-Rock: “Care să fie care să fie? Am urcat munți, am văzut orașe cochete, parcuri și păduri, dar parca il țin așa bine minte pe asta: Giola / Eye of Zeus. Un jacuzzi natural aflat pe țărmul insulei Tassos. AWESOME!”

De ziua lui Eminescu povesteam pe Facebook despre două cutii ca o poezie pentru geocaching-ul românesc: Friday the 13th și Tuesday the 14th. Cele 3 ceasuri rele nu l-au împiedicat pe maestrul kekemes (aka Razvan Balaci) să compună 2 capodopere: prima cutie a fost ca o doină de jale care a pus de drumuri mulți flăcăi oacheși; după 5 ani se naște o a doua ce pare a fi o doină de dor ale cărei versuri se scriu chiar acum. Intrați pe pagina cutiei și contribuiți și voi la scrierea acestor file de poveste – timp de 10 săptămâni vom scrie împreună un nou capitol!

Kekemes: “Even though I don’t have that many finds, not like you fine gentlemen:) my favorite one is GC27X70 for so many reasons: I found this one a long time ago and back then (and still now) this kind of hide was amazing. I had to team up with Puiutz as usual to make this pop up from its hiding place. We’ve got it all on film, a bus was stopped at the red light near GZ and all people were staring at the two…freaks? 🙂 I will always remember this cache as my favorite find“

 

Iepu09: “My old (all) time favorite cache is… WTF I can’t find it anymore on the map!!!! :-)))
It is the Scuba cache we had in 2012, arranged by Stressz and were we did a team FTF with Szilard. It was my first diving day and after 45 minutes at noon with no success we re-entered at 18.30 for 1h15. I remember getting my oxygen close to 0 when the big orange container popped up in front of my eyes. Was a hell of an adventure, too bad old days are gone and less inventive people are around.
To my surprise I am not able to find its GC code, that’s weird, would look like it never happened which is wrong as we still have our movie on the facebook page :-))“

Lukas’: “it’s very difficult to choose the all time favorite cache find. There were a lot of brilliant crafted containers, twist minded puzzles and some great adventures that appeared while searching for caches.
But the request is to choose only one, so I will go with this one: Antique Thought! The idea is marvelous, and the references are outstanding! We did had a lot of fun while retrieving it. Thank you DanAL70!“

 

Biciclaru: “It Is extremely hard to pick “the best of the best” cache… Anyway, I will choose GC43, the oldest cache in Europe. Maybe is just because that I found it recently and I still feel the thrill of that day. Here is the story (with photos): LINK “

NYWanderer: “Ahhh I already spent more than half hour going through my favorites list as it wasn’t easy to pick ONE great cache amongst all that I found. I love mysteries and I’ve encountered and was lucky to solve some brilliant ones, some that make my head hurt just looking back at my solving notes and artifacts that I had to generate in the process; I’ve found caches that made me hike in swamps, bushwack on mountain trails that do not exist, or hike abandoned trails into the jungle; multis that kept me going for full days from one clue to another…

But if I am to pick one favorite, perhaps fresher in my memory than some others, it would be GC5A81B. A mystery that almost literally turned me into a character of one of my favorite childhood novels, with physical stages just as exciting as the brainy counterparts.“

Issa Syssa: “Our favorite mystery is a field puzzle from Alba-Iulia made by CalinSuteu: Carlsburg – the Trail of the Sun ! We like it because, the journey we had, was to all interesting buildings, with very old history. At every second step of the mystery we have found a very interesting rock, on the rock, the owner writes the coordinates of another treasure that he recommends us to search. Of course, his own caches in the mountains!”

CehashuTeam: “GC2NTWD pentru peripețiile prin care am trecut.”

 

MosIon: “One of my favorite Cache is the first Mystery Cache – the Gold-Bug (https://coord.info/GC1NGGR), solved without a decoder. It was the hard way, breaking it piece by piece, discovering a different face of Geocaching. It has the “Waw” effect, it kept me tense until I found the box and signed the Log. Unforgettable.

But since I have to choose “the one”, then the credit goes to Flaganography (https://coord.info/GC3Z0XG). This D3.5 mystery haunted me for weeks. I even contacted a bunch of retired CIA code breakers challenging them to point me to the right direction. Finally, when the mist goes away and the solution revealed, it was …. orgasmic. So simple, so tricky and so beautiful. Appreciated not only by me, but by so many unnamed code breakers from the other side of the Ocean.“

Mioritics: “Cutii și experiențe care mi-au plăcut mult sunt destule, însă una parcă e acolo… un pic mai sus decât celelalte: “Murder They Wrote” (GC1ZRHZ). E un mister care mi-a dat de furcă luni întregi, a spart barieră după barieră într-o gândire închistată, a fost acel ceva care m-a făcut să mă îndrăgostesc de geocaching. (Mare păcat că e arhivata seria… poate mouse și salgado vor reactiva măcar cutia originala… la 20 de ani de geocaching in Romania)“

 

Caracula: “Pentru mine, unul din cache-urile care mi-a rămas în minte (pe lângă cele cu tradiție din Romania – vezi Ancient thought) a fost Bitte küssen!. L-am găsit într-o noapte (pe la 00:00), pe o ceață crâncenă și mai că n-a sărit pe mine :). De atunci, ascunderea de cutii a devenit altceva pentru mine…“

 

Hard-Rock: “Well, it is hard to make a choice, but i remember one riddle that i haven’t managed to find, especially due to laziness. but i remember how it started and how excited i was to go trough every step and discover the connections. I am talking about Cireşarii – Vol. 1 – Cavalerii Florii de Cireş. Along this years i am satisfied that i meet nice people, places and hides.“
